Good painter? Great paint job!

As North Shore Painters, we make sure we use only the best equipment to ensure a lasting finish. Our North Shore Painters use a range of tools to achieve the look for our clients. This includes the basics such as brushes, paint trays, scrapers etc., and goes right up to high end equipment including multi storey ladders, cherry pickers, scaffolding and more. To make sure we complete your paint job on time and to the best level of quality, it means investing in the best tools.

On one level, the best quality tools will help make a job run faster, on a more serious level, it keeps our painting team North Shore safe. Our North Shore Painters are required to complete work at great heights, especially for strata and commercial jobs, so making sure our safety and access equipment is paramount.

The right paint

We’ve explained previously just how important it is to use a quality product to achieve a premium finish. Our North Shore Painting Team has spent years searching for, testing and using what we consider to be the best on the market. Whilst we can always use a client’s preferred product, we recommend products which will provide a long lasting finish. The top characteristics to look out for in paint is a rich colour (even if it’s just an off-white), texture to match your envisioned result and longevity of product. Most good quality paints will come with a warranty if applied to the products’ specifications.

Preparation

Summit Coatings, North Shore painting team, cannot stress enough the importance of preparation to ensure a premium finish. Even new surfaces need a good sanding. Our North Shore painting team are experts at preparing surfaces to paint. Through a rigorous inspection process, we can ensure even the most questionable surfaces look as good as they can, which is important in the older homes in the North Shore area.

We pay special attention to window sills and door frames, which tend to get knocked around and when done wrong, can look terrible after only a few weeks!

There are a number of steps to consider in preparing a surface for paint, not simply sanding. Often, there is remedial building work which needs to be completed prior to finishing the preparation process. Rotting wood needs to be replaced, rising damp must be dealt with, rusted materials treated and the list goes on. Summit Coatings offers not only North Shore Painters but can also supply a remedial builder in the completed North Shore painters package.

Letting paint dry

If you’ve ever tackled a DIY paint job and weren’t sure how long to let paint dry, you’ll probably understand that if you haven’t let those coats get rock hard, the colour chips off almost instantly.
The reason for this, is that each coat has not been given the chance to fully set. This means, the next coat applied fuses into the previous, slightly wet coat and becomes one big layer of paint. In turn, your paint offers no protection from the elements or the regular wear and tear your walls will experience. If a surface is painted properly and each coat left to dry, if the top coat experiences a chip, there are another few coats underneath so the rest of the paint job is protected, and the flaw goes unnoticed. It can be especially important for people renovating their homes with children to have a quality North Shore painter on the job to ensure the job is done properly for a lasting finish.
