2017 Decorating Trends
As a painter North Shore, Summit helps clients refresh their space to keep up with 2017 decorating trends. We know there’s nothing better than rejigging a space to be fresh and inspiring. As such, we’ve put together our top picks for 2017 decorating trends.
In our previous post, we mentioned how green was a colour to watch in 2017. From lime green, through to a deep emerald (and everything in between), green is the colour du jour.
Green is a flexible colour in that it can be used in soft hues as an all round wall colour, or used as a strong feature wall, if you prefer something bolder.
Alternatively, accent your room with green finishes such as throw pillows and blankets, or even green glassware.
Whilst warm days and sandy beaches never seem to go out of style, tropical prints are huge in 2017 decorating trends. As a painter North Shore, we have been seeing the rise of tropical wallpaper being installed across Sydney.
Try giving your home an on-trend, but relaxed vibe by using a palm inspired wallpaper as a feature. Or why not bring the outdoors in with a Birds of Paradise palm (faux, of course). Again, throw cushions are one of the easiest ways to use this trend.
Navy Blue is the new Black
Navy blue has found its way back into our lives in the form of kitchens, upholstered couches and accents. If you’re game enough to step away from the white kitchen, why not try this as the new standard?
Navy Blue is still neutral enough that it will outlast many other fads (which is what you want when fitting out a kitchen), but it will still give you an up-to-the-minute vibe. Did you know you can even paint your kitchen cabinetry? Check out a post we did a while back and speak to a painter North Shore to discuss if this is an option for you.
If fixed cabinetry is too daring for you, consider painting a navy blue feature wall in your living space instead.
The idea of mixing fabrics and materials is on the rise. The key to good interior design has always been “layers”, yet with 2017 decorating trends we’re seeing this taken to another level. Thick woven blankets, rough concrete walls, reclaimed timber furniture and more are all key in building visually appealing spaces.
Try incorporating aspects of the above trends to create highly textured zones. Don’t be afraid to mix rough and soft materials, and even to experiment with wall surfacing. As a painter North Shore, Summit can work with you to create bespoke wall treatments using fine paint finishes and other materials.
